Towards a winning formula

Emerchemie at 20 years

It all began when Mr. Nimal Dias-Jayasinha, a former Managing Director of the multinational pharmaceutical giant Hoechst Marion Roussel in Sri Lanka, decided to strike out on his own. Bringing together the two well known multinationals, E Merck and Pharmachemie, he started a new Pharmaceutical Agency House in the year 1999, named appropriately by the amalgamation of the names of those two companies.... EMERCHEMIE.

From humble beginnings in a rented house at Tichbourne passage, which was home to the pioneering 35 employees, Emerchemie has grown to be the Pharmaceutical Powerhouse it is today with over 600 employees, a turnover reaching SLRs. 8 billion annually and having its own Office, Warehousing and Manufacturing Complexes.

Today, 20 years hence, we are not only looking towards the past struggles and present achievements but also towards a bright future filled with dynamism and innovation.
